The Beginning

All my life Waiting to exhaleTo finally breathe free Wake up in a world Where I can be Me In Feeling whole and real For the first timeIn forever Breathing & Praying & caring & feeling human And real For the first time And the whole time For true. .

Pondering

Wandering through the personals one day, something intrigued me. The ad was different not racy and obvious like some, but honest and sincere. It read: Christian, African-American lesbian seeks same. I logged out.

My days were busy. Between life and its mini dramas, I was left little time for play. Somehow, my thoughts kept remembering that personal ad. I, honestly, tried to block it from my mind. I always read the personals- I never answer any. This ad just kept interrupting my thoughts. Finally, I decided to answer the ad. Ok- I can think again! Amazingly, wondering whether she would answer me kept me anxious for two days.

She answered!!! Total surprise...(smile)Our e-mail conversations are great. We talk about everything. I notice myself praying about her... I read her e-mails with a toothpaste grin plastered on my face. We discover that we are only about 500 miles apart. After about four days of e-mails, we decide to use the instant messaging system.

My love, I am a simple girl with a big heart from a small country.

The Day is Here...

The Afternoon of August 26th, 1999

I arrived in Atlanta tired, hot and funky. I couldn't wait to get to the hotel and freshen up. The love of my life would be there around 4:30pm and I wanted to look fabulous for her.

The Moment of Truth

Ok. I was ready. No- ready to take a shower and guess what happened??? You guessed right! I'm about to step into the stall when I hear a knock on the door. It's not for me,I thought. *Tap***Tap...uh, oh... I threw the funky t-shirt on and answered the door. A porter entered carrying a bag that I knew wasn't mine. Behind him, I saw a vision.

My mouth fell open! This female was drop dead gorgeous! Beautiful! I quickly ushered the porter to the door and ran the five steps to her arms. Her embrace felt like home.

"Cybill", I whispered and I heard my name fall from her lips.We were immobile for about two hours as our spirits reunited.

Our Love

Yes ma'am- I am moving to Atlanta, Georgia. We are discussing to realities of our lives together; the house, the fish.

I know she loves me. She knows I love her with my all and then some. Right now this distance thing is driving me crazy. We understand life, love and our world. We shall prevail. Our love will see us through.
